What Routine Service Actually Prevents

Electrical failures happen over time. A connection loosens over a decade, warms a little more each year, and then one night it starts a fire. Scheduled service gives you more control over your home.

Catching Faults Early

Regular inspections catch faulty wiring, loose connections, and worn breakers before they cause fires or unexpected outages in your Michigan home.

Expert Workmanship

Our electricians will diagnosis the route of the problem and explain all your repair options with you. Then they’ll then fix your electrical issue.

Code Compliance

Insurance reviews and home sale inspections often require up-to-date electrical work. Scheduled service keeps your home compliant and ready for whatever’s next.

Reliable Performance

Your house was wired for the appliances of its era. Heat pumps, induction ranges, and EV chargers ask for more, and a serviced panel delivers it without straining.

Our electricians evaluate your panel first, then test outward through circuits, outlets, and connections until the actual fault turns up rather than the symptom you noticed.

Service & Prep

Our trucks carry the parts most repairs need. Whether it’s a receptacle swap or a panel repair, we finish it in the visit rather than scheduling around a supply run.

We test every affected circuit and connection before we pack up, so you know the repair works instead of relying on hope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions West Michigan homeowners ask us most about electrical repair and service.

What happens during an electrical repair service visit?

We find the cause before we touch anything. Depending on your symptoms, that may mean opening the panel, testing receptacles and switches, tracing circuits, or checking hardware. We also carry infrared cameras and fault locators for issues hidden behind finished walls. Once we know what failed, we explain the repair, the parts, and the hours, so you can approve a firm price before we start.

When should I call an electrician instead of fixing it myself?

Most non-electricians can safely handle light replacements and GFCI resets. Past that, the safety risks increase fast. Bare conductors, an outlet throwing sparks, a switch plate warm to the touch, a breaker that trips again after you reset it, and anything behind the panel cover belong to a licensed electrician. Not only is the work dangerous, but work done without a permit can complicate an insurance claim and resurface as a problem during a sale inspection years later.

Why does my circuit breaker keep tripping?

Your circuit breaker is doing exactly what it was installed to do. A breaker opens when the circuit behind it draws more current than the wire can carry safely. Most often, it signals that too much is plugged into one circuit. However, it can also be caused by a short, a ground fault, or a breaker worn past its useful life. Reset it once. If it goes again, leave it off and call us, because repeated resets fatigue the breaker and heat the wire inside your wall.

Why are my lights flickering, and should I worry?

A quick dip when the furnace or well pump starts is ordinary. Flickering that persists, spreads to other rooms, or worsens week over week is not. The cause is usually a loose connection in a receptacle or switch, a circuit carrying more than it should, a failing breaker, or original wiring in an older home. A loose connection can arc, and arcing is how electrical fires start. So flickering without an obvious trigger deserves a diagnostic visit, not patience.

Do you offer emergency electrical repair after hours?

We do. ENS Electric runs 24/7 emergency service throughout West Michigan for faults that can’t wait until morning, such as the whole house dark, a burning smell at an outlet or panel, a live conductor exposed by storm damage, a breaker that will not stay closed. Reach us at (616) 836-6360 at any hour. One exception worth stating plainly: if you see smoke or flame, call 911 first and us second.

How long will my electrical repair take?

Most visits finish inside one to three hours. Swapping a receptacle or switch is a half hour to an hour. If we are hunting an intermittent flicker or a breaker that trips unpredictably, it runs longer, often two to four hours, because the time has to go into locating the fault rather than solely correcting it. Bigger jobs, such as replacing a run of cable or upgrading a breaker, may need a second visit if a part has to be ordered, and we will tell you that while we are still in your residence.
