Roof or Ground: Solar Built Around Your Property

We design both roof and ground mounts, depending on the site you have.

Solar panels fitted across a tiled home roof under a clear sky, a roof mount laid out around the pitch and planes of the existing roof.

Roof Mount Solar

We lay out your array around the real geometry of your roof, its pitch, its planes, the chimney that shades the southwest corner at four o’clock. We do flashing and penetrations properly, because a solar install that leaks isn’t a savings story.

Ground Mount Solar

Have acreage, an aging roof, or heavy tree cover overhead? A ground array sidesteps all three. We aim it for the best exposure your property offers, and clearing snow or servicing a panel means walking outside rather than climbing up.

Are Roof or Ground Mount Solar Panels Better for Your Property?

We install solar panels both atop clients’ roofs and on ground-mounts. The better option depends on each individual. In our experience, it’s best to approach each solar panel installation individually. We consider a variety of essential factors when determining which solar panel installations are best for you, including:

Size and Shape of Roof

We determine if your roof is big and sturdy enough to support solar panels.

Roof Angle & Orientation

A south-facing roof gets the most sunlight. We also need to determine whether your roof has an optimal angle.

Structural Integrity

We’ll determine if your roof can support solar panels, snow, and blowing winds.

Land Space

We recommend a ground-mount solution if you have enough open, unshaded land to support a ground-mount.

Land Accessibility

We need to know if our electricians can reach the area for your ground-mount.

Aesthetics Concerns

We’ll know if your ground-mount installation will comply with local regulations and homeowner association rules.

Solar Installed by Electricians, Not Salespeople

Plenty of solar companies subcontract the electrical work. We are the electrical contractor. ENS Electric has served this community for over 35 years, and the same licensed team that upgrades panels and wires, designs and installs your array, ties it into your service, and comes back if anything needs attention.

What Solar Gets You Right Now

Trade an unpredictable monthly bill for a fixed, known asset on your roof with solar panels.

Reliable Power

With a backup battery, you can keep the essentials running automatically when the grid fails. Your home stays safe and comfortable through the storm.

Stable Utility Rates

Utility rates climb. Every kilowatt-hour you make and use on-site is one you don’t have to buy at next year’s price.

Credits for Your Excess

Michigan’s regulated utilities run distributed generation programs that credit the power your array exports to the grid. You get payment for the energy you don’t use.

Panels are a twenty-five-year relationship with whoever installed them. Local homeowners trust ENS Electric for strong customer relationships and transparent pricing. Our technicians deliver results that keep customers coming back.

Our Step-by-Step Process Gets You Powered Up Fast

Contact Us

Fill in the form or call us. We’ll schedule a visit to your home and remind you to have a recent bill handy if you can – your annual usage is what actually sizes the system.

Site Visit

An advisor walks your roof or yard, reads the shading throughout the day, checks your panel and service capacity, and comes back with a system-size quote matched to how much power you really use.

Permitting & Prep

We handle building permits, the utility interconnection application, and any service work your home needs first. This is the stage that stalls most solar projects, and it is the stage we take off your plate.

Installation

Our own crew sets the racking, mounts the panels, wires the inverter, and tests the system through final inspection. You start producing clean power and cutting what you buy from the grid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions West Michigan homeowners ask us before going solar.

How long will the solar system last?

Panels carry manufacturer performance warranties that typically run 25 years, and they keep producing past that (another 15 years) at a gradually reduced output. Inverters are the shorter-lived component and are usually replaced once during the system’s life. We will tell you which warranty covers which part before you sign anything.

Does shade hurt a solar system’s performance?

It reduces output rather than ruining it. A panel produces the most when its whole face is in direct sun, so a chimney shadow or an overhanging branch costs you production during the hours it falls across the array. Part of the site visit is mapping that shade across the day and the season, then laying panels out to work around it.

Will solar raise my property taxes?

Solar generally adds to a home’s value, and Michigan treats qualifying residential solar favorably for property tax purposes. Because assessment practices vary by municipality, we point you to your local assessor rather than promise an outcome we can’t control.

How does a solar system actually work?

Panels on your roof or in your yard turn sunlight into direct current. That DC runs to an inverter, which converts it to the alternating current your house actually uses. The AC feeds your main service panel, powering whatever is running at that moment, and anything left over flows back to the grid for credit. Racking, wiring, and the inverter do the unglamorous work of holding it together.

How much will solar actually save me?

It depends on three things: how much power your household uses in a year, how big a system your site supports, and what your utility pays for the excess you export. We model all three during the site visit and show you the math, not a headline number. Be cautious of any installer quoting you a savings figure before they have seen your roof or your usage history.
